Paul Shank, Chief Engineer, Maryland Aviation Administration, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Paul is the Chief Engineer at the Maryland Aviation Administration, overseeing the planning, design and construction of the airport’s multi-hundred-million-dollar capital improvement and systems preservation programmes at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Martin State Airport. He oversees MAA’s Office of Planning and Environmental Services, Office of Noise and Real Estate and Office of Design and Construction. Paul has over 30 years of experience in airport development and associated transportation, commercial and institutional development. His accomplishments are measured in billions of dollars of airport and transportation-related development projects completed throughout the United States and overseas. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Certified Member of the American Association of Airport Executive. He is also a licensed commercial pilot, flight instructor and aircraft owner. Aviation is his passion.

Synopsis: Our motto at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI Marshall) is ‘Easy Come, Easy Go’. The paper will highlight specific decisions/solutions implemented over the years that led to an efficient, cost-competitive and customer-friendly award-winning airport. It will discuss specific solutions used by our employees, tenants, consultants and contractors to enhance the customer experience flying into and out of the Baltimore/Washington region.
