Day 1 - 25 March
Session:
Airport Design, Planning & Development

16:30 - 17:00 - Thames Hub: aspirational or essential?
Synopsis: A Thames Estuary airport can deliver great national benefits in connectivity and economic growth. It can link to the existing HS1 line and Crossrail, and is ideally placed to serve the whole country, as well as Europe. London is moving east and needs new jobs and homes; an airport would provide the catalyst for this growth and investment. While Heathrow is hemmed in, the estuary site is unrestricted. A purpose-designed facility would offer operational efficiency and comfort. Its flexibility would give Britain and future generations the competitive edge that Heathrow is losing.
