Speaker Biograghy:
Richard has over 30 years’ experience in the design, planning and construction of civil engineering projects working for contractor, consultant and client organisations. Notable airport projects include Hong Kong International Airport, Rajiv Gandi International Airport at Hyderabad, Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, Turkey and Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, Maldives. Richard was the technical coordinator for the consortium during the successful tender for the concession.

- Masterplanning the mega hub: introducing the new Istanbul Airport
Synopsis: A new international airport is being developed in Istanbul, supporting the rapid growth of Turkish aviation, with an ultimate capacity of over 150mppa. Being developed under a PPP process by the Turkish consortium of Cengiz, Mapa, Limak, Kolin and Kalyon, the first phase of the airport, with a capacity of 90mppa, is due to open in 2018. This presentation will describe the background to the development of the project, and provide an overview of the master plan for the new airport – highlighting some of the challenges of building and operating a six-runway airport.
