Donald Zoufal, Safety and Security Executive, SDI (System Development.Integration, LLC), USA

Speaker Biograghy: Don Zoufal is the former Deputy Commissioner for Safety and Security for Chicago Department of Aviation, responsible for security at the O'Hare and Midway International Airports. He has also served in a range of other high-level safety and security posts for the City of Chicago, including management of the city’s homeland security portfolio and the rollout of the citywide video surveillance programme. He is currently a Safety and Security Executive with SDI, consulting on technology support for safety and security operations. He has lectured nationally and internationally on command and control centre design and operations, and teaches a course on technology for homeland security at the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Protection Professional and has completed the ICAO AVSEC PM course. He also serves on the steering committees for ACI-NA Public Safety and Security and Facilitation committees and on the ACI-World Facilitation Committee.

Synopsis: Developments in technology and the proliferation of digitally enabled security systems have enhanced detection and response capabilities as well as creating a wealth of data available to security professionals. However, this vast array of systems and the volume of information they produce, present a new set of challenges. Many airports have looked to the creation of consolidated command and control centres to facilitate the management of technology. This presentation examines considerations in command and control centre design and implementation. The focus will be on how command and control centres can use technology to make security operations more efficient and effective.
