Speaker Biograghy: John has worked in the airport industry for 15 years, the last four for Heathrow Airport Ltd. During that time he has been involved with many of the major baggage initiatives at Heathrow, from initial designs for Terminal 5 through to defining Heathrow’s baggage strategy for the next 20 years. He has recently designed the baggage investment and business change programme for the next five-year regulatory period at Heathrow. Before joining Heathrow, John either worked for or managed several technical consultancies focussed on aviation, defence and security, and IT. In the course of this he created and sold a number of software applications that embody novel analytical techniques. John is a member of IATA’s Baggage Steering Group and he co-authored the third edition of Airport Operations, published in 2012 by McGraw-Hill. He is a member of the Advisory Board for CORMIS, University of Southampton.

11:50 - 12:20 - Delivering Heathrow’s baggage strategy – the next step
Synopsis: Heathrow’s vision is to be the UK’s direct connection to the world and Europe’s hub of choice. Supporting this, its baggage strategy seeks to give passengers a better experience by improving capability, being cost competitive and improving performance. The new T3 integrated baggage system (T3IB) will be the next step towards implementing this strategy. The presentation will describe the novel concepts that are inherent in T3IB, and how the system will be the catalyst for new and better ways of working that will contribute to Heathrow's strategic intentions.
