Speaker Biograghy: Udo studied Biology and Environmental Protection in Hamburg, and then spent two years in soil research (soil remediation, nutrient cycles). Since 1998 he has worked in Hamburg Airport's Environment Department, with a focus on air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, natural preservation, energy efficiency and environmental management in general.

Synopsis: Terminals are the most important energy-consuming units at airports; hence they require a major focus in any energy-efficiency discussion. This presentation outlines which steps towards energy-efficient terminal design and operation might be the most promising ones. This includes building design, process control for internal energy supply, metering and evaluation of data and technological aspects as to HVAC systems, lighting etc.
