Speaker Biograghy: Edward has over 30 years' management experience. He worked as Bottling Manager, Supply Chain Manager and Project Manager at East African Breweries Ltd, and was General Manager AMREF and General Manager Kenya Airways, JKIA Hub. He was part of the start-up team with One Jet One, a low-cost carrier that intended to enter the Kenyan market. He is currently Airport Manager (General Manager) at JKIA Nairobi. Edward completed his PhD course work on Strategic Management, with a thesis on The Influence of Competition and Strategy Implementation on the Relationship Between Quality of Corporate Governance and Performance of Companies Listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. He has an MBA, a BSc in Marketing, a Master Brewer diploma, VLB, Berlin Germany, and a Higher National Diploma in Food Technology.

14:20 - 14:50 - Keynote: Terminal evacuation: sheltering in place and repopulation – the case of JKIA
Synopsis: The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport was gutted by fire on the night of 7 August 2013, reducing the terminal to a shell and causing the closure of the airport. Within hours, temporary structures were erected and the airport reopened. Tents were used as arrival halls as well as holding lounges. For the next two months, intensive construction work took place. The parking garage was converted into an arrivals hall. Daily meetings took place involving all agencies, demonstrating utmost cooperation.
