Speaker Biograghy: Mark has more than 36 years of design experience and has won design awards for his projects worldwide. His design awards include the Progressive Architecture Design Award, American Concrete Institute Design Award, Modern Healthcare Design Award, and The 2000 American Architecture Award for the Guangzhou Airport. His designs have been published in Progressive Architecture, Architectural Record, Architecture, Interiors, Airports and Passenger Terminal World. He enjoys speaking at conferences and has also published two books on airport terminals, one on Terminal 1 at the Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport and one on new Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport in Southern Sri Lanka. He has recently finished the design for the new 720,000 square metre Terminal 2 for Guangzhou New Baiyun International Airport and the New Boracay Airport in the Philippines. Mark is currently located in Hong Kong and is the Executive Director for Aviation Architecture at AECOM.

16:45 - 17:10 - The new passenger Jet Lift and future terminal design
Synopsis: The presentation will introduce a new aircraft lift design called the Jet Lift, and show how the concept evolved from enabling multi-level hangars to multi-level passenger terminals. Planning templates, a mechanical computer model and animations of the lift will be presented to enable the audience to fully understand the utility and functionality of the lift. Case studies will be presented to illustrate the impact of using Jet Lifts versus conventional aircraft parking. Walking distances, holdroom layouts, vertical circulation, apron services, concourse design and airfield planning will be discussed and illustrated. Energy usage and environmental impact will also be covered.
