Synopsis: Airport Carbon Accreditation is the carbon management certification for airports. The programme assesses and recognises the efforts of airports to manage and reduce their carbon emissions with four levels of award: Mapping, Reduction, Optimisation and neutrality. It was launched by ACI Europe in 2009 but has quickly gained momentum and now covers airports in Asia and Australia, Africa and North America. The programme provides airports with a common framework for active carbon management with measurable goalposts. Airport carbon footprints are independently verified in accordance with ISO 14064.
