Speaker Biograghy: Paul spent 12 years as a Director at ACI World. He was responsible for developing and coordinating economics and security policies with ACI members. For several years he was also in charge of training and public affairs. In 2006 he left ACI to devote all his energies to the global ACI/ICAO AMPAP professional accreditation programme as a trainer and course designer. The programme now boasts 500 graduates from some 95 nations. Prior to joining ACI, Paul was a diplomat for the US Department of State, serving at seven embassies on five continents. His areas of focus were economics, trade, energy policy and air transport.

14:20 - 14:45 - Accurate statistics and forecasts: precondition for airport strategic planning
Synopsis: Airports are complex businesses with long planning horizons, often 20 to 30 years. Before making strategic decisions for investment in expensive airport infrastructure, management needs to have reliable forecasts to right-size the airport going forward. Too little investment can result in congestion, degrading the passenger experience and creating diversion of traffic to competing airports. But over-building also has its downside: a heavy debt burden and under-utilised assets can erode the bottom line.
