Candace McGraw, CEO, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Candace was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) in July 2011. Prior to her current role, she held a number of positions in the Cleveland airport system. She has over 27 years’ experience in aviation, legal affairs and public administration, and received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Political Science from Duquesne University and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Candace has also earned the International Airport Professional (IAP) designation from ACI and ICAO.

14:20 - 14:45 - Accurate statistics and forecasts: precondition for airport strategic planning
Synopsis: Airports are complex businesses with long planning horizons, often 20 to 30 years. Before making strategic decisions for investment in expensive airport infrastructure, management needs to have reliable forecasts to right-size the airport going forward. Too little investment can result in congestion, degrading the passenger experience and creating diversion of traffic to competing airports. But over-building also has its downside: a heavy debt burden and under-utilised assets can erode the bottom line.
