Speaker Biograghy: During his five years at the GTAA, Mike has been developing and implementing a partnership strategy for Toronto Pearson Airport designed to enhance guest experience and grow revenue. Major partnerships formed to date include American Express, CIBC, Coke and TO2015. He has also led the retail team in the implementation of a retail and food and beverage change programme, which is focused on bringing outstanding new options to Toronto Pearson’s guests. Prior to joining the GTAA, Mike held senior marketing and merchandising roles with several retail brands including Hudson’s Bay Company, Rexall Drug Stores and Canadian Tire.

16:30 - 16:55 - Utilising passenger flow to optimise airport operations and retail
Synopsis: We will present an overview, key findings, learnings and successes deploying a platform for operational analytics at the GTAA over the last year. We will provide details on the information we collect and display in real time, associating passenger flow in airport with flight status, highlight its predictive power, present operational insights achieved and, time permitting, show some live examples. In terms of retail optimisation, we will detail how the platform uncovers optimisations in passenger flow at various checkpoints that, when implemented, are capable of increasing passenger spend and airport retail revenue by very large factors.
