Speaker Biograghy: Giulio is MAG’s Head of Commercial Bidding with responsibility for developing the strategy and process for M&A bidding and PPP/concessions and contract management. Prior to joining MAG he held executive positions in corporate strategy, corporate development/M&A and asset management in Europe (Benetton Group) and in the consulting industry in USA (Gensler, ICAO). He is an industry expert, and a frequent presenter and lecturer on airport business strategy and asset management for the infrastructure sector. Giulio also chairs MAG’s roundtable on business and corporate strategy with the top leadership from other European airports.

16:10 - 16:35 - Post-acquisition value innovation at London Stansted Airport
Synopsis: MAG successfully acquired Stansted in 2013 and very quickly started on a new success path at the airport. To fulfil the business plan and deliver value to shareholders, MAG launched a terminal transformation that gave Stansted a new security, retail and passenger experience and created a substantial increase in customer satisfaction, revenues, EBITDA and free cash flow. In 2015, MAG is nearing the integration of Stansted in the group, and completing the terminal transformation while planning the next phase of infrastructure expansion.

Synopsis: The talk will provide an overview of Stansted Airport's upgrading of its hold baggage screening system from Standard 2 to Standard 3. The audience will be taken through the process of designing and procuring the new system and the challenges of implementing such a major upgrade in an operational environment. The opportunities that the upgrade provided to drastically improve functionality and power efficiency will be explained.
