Craig Leiner, Transportation Coordinator, Natick Community Services Department, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Craig has over 30 years of transportation planning experience at the local, state and regional levels. He has provided support to the Access Advisory Committee to the MBTA, a group advocating for equitable traveller access to the transit services in the Boston region. Upon retirement from the Massachusetts Port Authority, he had nearly 15 years of airport planning and operations experience. Currently, he is the Transportation Coordinator for a Massachusetts local government, managing the startup and operation of a new accessible transportation service for seniors and people with disabilities. He also serves on the Airport Cooperative Research Panel, Technology Solutions to Facilitate ADA Travelers. His training and certifications include disability awareness, wheelchair lift operation and securement, CPR/AED and first aid.

10:50 - 11:15 - Planning and technology for ageing travellers and passengers with disabilities
Synopsis: Airport operators recognise the continuing and growing need to adequately serve mature travellers and those with physical disabilities; accordingly, many have enacted programmes to improve the experience of ageing travellers. Recent advances in technology and business practice are leading to enhanced design, focused capital investments and updated operational procedures. This presentation will summarise the nature and global scope of the challenge, review recent research and present current approaches in the use of technology, design guidelines and innovative programmes to address the issue.
