Envisa

Speaker Biograghy: Divya holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Technology of Troyes (UTT, France). Her strong interest in environmental issues led her to complete an MSc in Environmental Technologies from Imperial College of London (ICL, UK). During her career, Divya has contributed to the establishment of emissions inventories of air pollutants and GHG emissions reported to the UNFCCC and UNECE. She has conducted many environmental studies for airports. For instance, she defined air quality KPIs for airports, evaluated the benefits of EGTS (Electric Green Taxiing System) and SET (Single Engine Taxiing) at Zurich Airport; she also identified factors influencing airports' CO2 emissions. More recently, in the context of Airport Carbon Accreditation, she supported many airports to be accredited (including Bahrain, La Rochelle île-de-Ré, Newquay Cornwall, Geneva, etc.).

Day 2 - 16 March
Session:
Energy, Environmental Issues & Sustainability

15:45 - 16:15 - Finding benchmarks to guide emission reductions
Synopsis: Airports are increasingly focused on reducing their carbon footprints, as it can be seen through the increasing number of airports engaged in the ACA programme. Several methods have been proposed for airports to calculate their CO2 emissions. However, although these methods allow the quantification of GHG emissions, they are less useful in evaluating their environmental performance since there is no recognised benchmarking. How does a given airport measure up with respect to a particular energy expenditure compared to the 'norm'? And how can they evaluate the impact of the steps they take to manage and reduce emissions?
