Anthony Loui, Team Leader/Community Planner, United States Department of Transportation, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Anthony has more than 20 years' experience in the field of city planning, architecture, urban design, transportation planning, policy and implementation. He works for the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), and is a Team Leader/Community Planner at USDOT’s Federal Transit Administration. He is responsible for evaluating and recommending new public transportation investments nationwide, including commuter rail, urban rail and bus transit projects. Anthony also participates in other policy initiatives undertaken by the administration, including public-private partnership arrangements and transit-orientated development policies. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design from the University of Hawaii and a Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of California, Los Angeles.

Synopsis: Getting to and from the airport has been a challenge for cities and towns in North America. Good transportation access to an airport can play a vital role in a city or region’s economic competitiveness in the global marketplace. Well-known research is available on transport modes and corridor planning available to access airports. Lesser-known research on multi-modal information systems is being developed as another form of transportation access. These systems can play a significant role in understanding the airport’s site location, the transportation mode being used and the value and convenience of customer access to airports and surrounding destinations.
