Sikander Jain, Managing Director - India, CH2MHill, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Sikander has recently taken over as Managing Director of CH2M companies in India. Immediately prior to taking over this position, he was Program Director for the SMART City at Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Area under the umbrella of DMICDC/MIDC partnership in India, where he set up the programme offices, staff, controls and governance, and led multi-disciplinary teams towards a common goal of infrastructure development to standards and aspirations up to tender documentation. He was also Programme Manager, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Development, and Mumbai. Sikander led the successful delivery of this programme in the challenging local environment, which includes Terminal 2 as a LEED Gold certified facility. The delivery of this programme is complete, and Terminal 2 has been operational since February 2014. Synopsis: India is gearing up to maximise air traffic potential. It has a large domestic traveller population, with an even larger untapped potential. Metros are well situated, developed and connected. The focus is now shifting to the second and third-tier cities with the deployment of regional connectivity or hubbing. As the domestic market continues to grow at 20% per year, given last year's growth rate, it is geared to the be third-largest air travel market. Large country, large travelling population and available infrastructure will promote this. The presentation will address the untapped potential, hubbing, infrastructure requirements and associated economics.
