David Pendlebury, Manager Security Facility Support, Hamad International Airport, Qatar

Speaker Biograghy: David has been part of the Security department at Hamad International Airport (HIA) since January 2014. He is responsible for the operational management and support of the airport security team of 1,200 personnel, who in turn oversee the 24/7 Airport Security Operations Centre and CCTV control room. His career spans 16 years of operational experience in security, having served in the British Royal Air Force Police before moving to the private sector and working with Manchester Airport Group, where he was involved in numerous projects aimed at improving the operational outputs through the introduction of new technology, process improvement and personnel development.

Synopsis: Managing an airport security team, no matter the size or responsibilities, is a complex, multi-stakeholder, operational, tactical, strategic, dynamic, ever-changing, regulated task (to name but a few). To help with this, Hamad International Airport has internally developed a live, web-based, ‘1-Click-away’ portal for bringing together everything needed to effectively manage, report and improve a complex, multi-stakeholder set of operational and support processes. The presentation will explain the approach taken, the challenges faced and the benefits we have unlocked.
