René Droese, Executive Director Business Unit Property, Budapest Airport Zrt, Hungary

Speaker Biograghy: René joined Budapest Airport in June 2007. He is responsible for managing the airport’s property portfolio/the development of new real estate projects including the new Airport Business Park, the Integrator project, Cargo City and the Hotel project. He is in charge of all activities of the airport related to air cargo and logistics business development. Previously he spent 10 years as a Senior Manager in the Commercial and Property Development Department at the majority shareholder of Budapest Airport (AviAlliance GmbH), where he was responsible for numerous due diligences, market analyses, development strategies and forecasts in the field of commercial and property activities. He advised the airports of AviAlliance and external airports about the development of projects in the non-aeronautical area. He was responsible for preparing the concept and feasibility studies for the Airport City development at Düsseldorf International Airport. He gained a Master of Real Estate degree at the European Business School, Berlin.

Synopsis: Budapest Airport has a site of almost 1,600 ha and therefore represents huge real estate development potential. The presentation will outline first how BUD found the right balance between areas needed for airport operations, and define areas available for real estate development and potential for airport- and non-airport-related functions. In addition, it will demonstrate how BUD developed tailor-made facilities to serve existing and new business partners of the airport and enhance revenue streams.
