Frank Smith, Consultant, Independent, UK

Speaker Biograghy: Frank has had a varied career in the UK Home Office. He worked on technical programmes including immigration systems and biometrics, policy and business change. He has worked as Private Secretary to the Immigration Minister, and on the part-time Critical Incident Reserve for UK Border Force, delivering front-line operational border control. Frank was active internationally for the Home Office: he represented the UK on the Management Board of eu-LISA; led for the UK on the EU Article 6 committee in Brussels on passport design and chip security; chaired the Technology working group of the IGC immigration forum; and chaired ENLETS Mobile, the EU working group on mobile solutions for police and borders (formerly e-MOBIDIG). Since retiring from the Home Office in 2015, Frank has continued to chair ENLETS Mobile and has continued his active interest in technology for borders, policing and mobile solutions.
