SEA Milan Airports

Speaker Biograghy: Massimo is TEN-T (Trans European Transport Network) Projects Coordinator for SEA Milan Airports. He has more than 24 years’ experience in airport activities. He previously worked for SEA’s Airport Infrastructural Development Department, in charge of approval procedures. He then occupied the position of Landside Development & Airport Accessibility Manager. For the last 13 years he has been engaged in strong lobbying activity aimed at raising awareness of Malpensa Airport’s development plans at the European Commission and the European Parliament. This has finally secured €30.2m grant funding from the TEN-T Programme for the Cargo City development and the MXPT2LINK-UP project (new rail link Terminal 1-Terminal 2). He is an External Expert at the European Commission DG-REGIO in the field of multi-modal transport. He is a member of the board of NETLIPSE (Network for the dissemination of knowledge on the management and organisation of Large Infrastructure Projects in Europe) and IARO (International Air Rail Organisation).

12:00 - 12:30 - SEA AirRail project – experience in securing funding from EU
Synopsis: The discussion will examine the steps to take to ensure governmental support, particularly with reference to the European Commission co-funding experienced as a catalyst for the overall implementation of an air-rail project. Moreover, it will focus on the vital role that good governance plays in the success of intermodal projects. The presentation will focus on the railway connection project between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 as well as the new Terminal 2 station at Milano Malpensa Airport, highlighting the expected operational and access improvements from an airport managing company's point of view.
