Jarrett Simmons, Assistant Aviation Director, Houston Airport System, USA

Speaker Biograghy: Jarrett currently serves as the Assistant Director Aviation - Asset Planning for the Houston Airport System, which owns and operates Houston George Bush Intercontinental, Houston William P. Hobby and Houston Ellington Airports. In this role he is responsible for managing the Asset Management, Planning, Environmental, CAD/GIS, Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and the Public Art Program for the Houston Airport System. He also serves in an owner representative role overseeing planning and design elements for the US$1.7bn Intercontinental Airport Terminal Redevelopment Program (ITRP). Prior to his current position he served for several months as the Interim General Manager for Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Before joining the Houston Airport System, Jarrett worked for 15 years as an aviation consultant managing planning assignments at more than 30 commercial airports across North America.

Synopsis: Across the globe, clients are increasingly choosing to manage their capital investments using the tools and techniques of Program Management. This presentation sets out an approach to implementing program controls on major airport programmes, within the Program Management approach. Major programs are complex enterprises; they expose the client organisation to significant business threats and, conversely, offer benefits that can transform markets. The successful application of programme controls teams, tools, processes and procedures are fundamental to the ability to successfully deliver through all phases of the programme lifecycle. The presentation will illustrate globally demonstrated aspects of implementing program controls.
