Speaker Biograghy: Lakshminarayanan is a graduate Electrical Engineer with more than 35 years' professional experience, out of which the last 27 have been spent in airport infrastructure development, engineering and maintenance. He is specialised in project implementation of electromechanical systems, and airfield works for medium and large greenfield and brownfield airport projects. He was associated with the state-run Airports Authority of India for 17 years and served GMR Airports in Hyderabad and Delhi for eight years in airport infrastructure development. Currently he is working with Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru as Vice President, and leading the infrastructure maintenance team, which is responsible for the upkeep of assets including airside, terminal and landside. He is also spearheading the sustainable initiatives of KIAB, which include power, water and waste management. He is an accomplished speaker at international forums related to airfield engineering and terminal building maintenance.

Synopsis: Although airports contribute to the economic sustainability of the cities/countries in which they operate, it is important that they are seen doing this activity in a responsible manner by contributing to the environment via innovative use of energy and water and resource management. Adapting renewable energy, increasing the rain water harvesting, conservation in energy and water, adapting habitat management and societal awareness regarding noise mitigation are some of the areas in which airports can give back to society.
