Speaker Biograghy: Colin has over 30 years' engineering consultancy experience in the airport, logistics, bulk handling and manufacturing industries. Starting out in motor control and switchgears, he gained knowledge across multiple industries, founding CHS in 1985 to develop a unique blend of independent engineering services, bringing measured benefits, value and cost improvement from concept to operation. Working in the airport industry since 1990, he has developed innovative systems and processes to inform and improve asset management activity with transparent discrimination of operating, maintenance, specification and quality issues. At project level, Colin has gained a reputation as troubleshooter and honest broker, resolving a number of high-profile latent defect cases in the BHS/HBS arena. Closely involved in HBS, he has worked with machine suppliers, sharing data and experience to improve reliability while controlling cost. Personal fact: In charity work he has designed and built an orphanage in India.

11:55 - 12:25 - Upgrading of the baggage handling system at Newcastle International Airport
Synopsis: Following the new regulatory standards set by the CAA relating to HBS screening, Newcastle International Airport and CHS are working together to remodel and reconfigure the existing baggage handling system to incorporate ECAC Standard 3 x-ray machines.
