Zsofia Kertesz, Environmental Specialist, Budapest Airport, Hungary

Speaker Biograghy: Zsofia is Environmental Specialist at Budapest Airport, responsible mainly for the compulsory and voluntary GHG reporting, carbon footprint calculations, monitoring the air quality and managing communication regarding the sustainability topics at the airport. She is also coordinating the Green Airport Programme encouraging the airport partner companies to cooperate to reduce emissions. She holds MSc degrees in Environmental Engineering and English-Hungarian Translation. She also studied for one semester at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. Previously she worked in Budapest and in London on sustainable solutions consulting and climate change-related data transparency.

Synopsis: Budapest Airport tries its best to responsibly tackle climate change challenges and develop sustainable and green solutions. Besides its carbon management policy aiming to reach carbon neutrality in the near future in the Airports Carbon Accreditation programme, several sustainable solutions are implemented in the following areas: water and wastewater management, smart new buildings and renovations resulting energy consumption reductions, air pollution monitoring system, modern recycling and waste collection system, e-car fleet, development of 5G and smart road access to get to the airport, and stakeholder engagement due to its partnership programme.
