Kristina Dores, ICAO (OPAS) Chief, Aerodromes & Ground Aids, Namibia Civil Aviation Authority, Namibia

Speaker Biograghy: Since 1980 Kris has worked in operational management roles with airlines, airports, commercial providers, TSA and the US State Department (Iraq). She has held UN ICAO posts with aviation ministries and authorities in Afghanistan, India, Nigeria. Since 2016 she has been Chief, Aerodromes for the Namibia Civil Aviation Authority. Kris is an active contributor/review manager for aviation associations, regulatory standards bodies and research programmes. She is also a frequent presenter to industry regarding the latest threats to international civil aviation safety and security in areas of recent, continuing or emerging hostilities and threats; global impacts to the industry at large; and strategic solutions to mitigate associated risks.

11:25 - 11:55 - AVSEC and wildlife poaching: exploration of issues and remedies
Synopsis: The systematic destruction of African wildlife affects AVSEC via illicit activities impacting aviation facilities, systems and equipment, personnel (aircraft, flight operations, aerodromes, air navigation services, etc.), law enforcement and regulatory oversight, financial institutions, economies, governments and our future. Issues include illegal transport across international borders, money laundering, smuggling, human and natural habitat destruction, corruption and a host of other crimes increasing exponentially. AVSEC practitioners represent a front-line opportunity to deter, detect and prevent these activities.
