Speaker Biograghy: Enrique has a doctorate from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). He also has an MSc in Civil Engineering (UPV), a Master's in Advanced Studies (UPV) and a postgraduate degree from L’École Nationale d’Administration Française (L’ENA). Dr Belda is currently the Deputy Director General of Communication and Information Systems for Security in the Spanish Ministry of the Interior. He previously worked as Deputy Director General of Road Traffic Technologies in the Ministry of the Interior, and a Lecturer at the Superior Technical School of Civil Engineers of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He also worked in the private sector as Chief Engineer for the construction of public works and project management. He has published more than 20 articles in national and international specialist magazines and has received several awards in recognition of his professional work.

10:05 - 10:35 - Smarter borders in Spain
Synopsis: Last year, Spain received more than 60 million tourists, approximately 30 million of whom arrived from non-Schengen countries. Migration, terrorism, trafficking and smuggling are security issues related to international movements of people. These movements are concentrated on short periods of time. Our challenge was to build the technological infrastructure capable of integrating technology and new operating procedures to find a balance between security and efficiency in migration management, border checks and law enforcement.
