INTERVIEW: 7X DRONE TRIALS Emirates Post Group (now 7X) and cargo drone developer Dronamics signed a letter of intent in October 2023 to explore advanced cargo drone deliveries in the UAE. 7X is trialling Dronamics’ cargo drone service to enable same-day middle-mile and long-range deliveries. If the pilot is successful, 7X intends to integrate the technology into its logistics network. In addition, 7X plans to be a launch partner of the future Dronamics UAE joint venture to support the expansion of Dronamics’ cargo drone operations in the region. As part of the agreement, 7X – through its postal and courier businesses managed by Emirates Post and EMX – will enable Dronamics to conduct proof-of-concept flights in the UAE with at least one drone aircraft this year. According to Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, group CEO of 7X, “It isn’t there yet for day-to-day use. EMX is a dedicated entity within the 7X group that will provide enhanced logistics capabilities using the latest technologies, focusing on reliable and fast courier services and tailored solutions. Tariq Al Wahedi has been appointed as EMX’s general manager. He comments, “With the convergence of digital and physical commerce, the significance of advanced logistics solutions is increasing. EMX transcends beyond offering logistics solutions; it also reflects a visionary approach within the CEP industry.
